Local Youth Participate In National 4-H Congress

Emily Allison of Kennedy recently joined Warren County 4-H members Audrey Ferrie, and Brielle Whitney as they represent Warren County 4-H at the 96th National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Ga.

The three delegates traveled with 21 additional members from Western Pennsylvania and more than 1,000 delegates from throughout the United States and its territories to participate in the 4-H Congress. The program is a mix of education, service and recreation. The theme is Be True, Be You.

The history of the National 4-H Congress goes back more than 90 years. An educational tour to Chicago was the forerunner to what would eventually be known as today National 4-H Congress. The 4-H organization differs in each state, so the Warren delegates spent the weekend meeting people and exploring the variety of ways in which states conduct their 4-H programs.

The trip is made possible through the support of the Mr. Robert W. “Bud” Holder Fund, which was established in 4-H program in the early 1990s. Holder was the second owner of Crossett Inc. and valued the leadership development of the Warren County youth.
