Give A Pint Get A Pound At Audubon’s Red Cross Blood Drive On December 26

On Family Volunteer Day at Audubon Community Nature Center, these sisters helped pack Conewango Blend bird seed that will be given to blood donors at Audubon on Tuesday, Dec. 26.

The Audubon Community Nature Center will host a blood drive from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26.

Those donating can receive two gifts from Audubon as part of its “A Pint for a Pound” giveaway. For every pint of blood donated, the Red Cross will gift a pound of Conewango Blend birdseed to the donor, helping both people and wildlife. Conewango Blend is a mix of birdseed formulated by Audubon’s own experts to attract a wide array of birds to feeders. Donors can choose either to take home their pound or to donate it for Audubon’s feeders.

As the need for blood is even greater during the holiday season, donors will also receive a long-sleeved t-shirt.

After filling local needs first, the American Red Cross has the ability, through their national inventory system, to move blood around the country wherever and whenever it is most needed.

Donors need to bring a photo identification, eat well and drink plenty of water before coming to donate. Wear comfortable, loose clothing. Prepare to spend between an hour and an hour and a half donating blood.
