Mayville Senior Citizens To Meet Friday

MAYVILLE — Forty-seven senior citizens gathered recently for lunch and meeting at the Mayville VFW.

After lunch Bonnie Johnson, president, called Dianne Johnson for devotions and then led all in the Pledge of Allegiance. The secretary and treasurer reports were read as well as one thank you note. Jeff Wagner gave a short Senior Council report and discussed several trips available through other sources. He mentioned that the Senior Council will meet at the Mayville VFW on Nov. 9. Mary Carlson listed September birthdays and anniversaries and cards sent. The Kitchen Committee consisting of Nancy Cole, Dolly Gilbert, Joyce Ayers, Sandy Wagner and Bill Tornstrom, were thanked. Joan Harper and Darlene Harper were welcomed as new members. Prizes were won by Donna Cummings, Mary Carlson and Louise Richir.

The group took part in a trip to Middlefield, Ohio, for the Amish Brown Bag tour and will take its next trip Oct. 10 to The Magic of Glass in Corning. Following that trip will be the Dec. 10 trip to Erie to the Erie Station Dinner Theatre to see “Christmas Memories.” The cost for the trip, due by Nov. 2, is $83 for members and $85 for non-members. For more information, call Janet Loomis at 761-6687 or Jeff Wagner at 753-7676.

The next meeting will be held Friday at noon at the Mayville VFW. The guest singer will be Pat Cook from Mayville, who performs country music and especially Patsy Cline. Those attending should bring a place setting and dish to pass.
