Sinclairville Senior Citizens Hold Summer Picnic, Meeting

The Sinclairville Senior Citizens met recently for a for a summer picnic and meeting in Stockton at the Firemen’s Grounds at the Briggs Pavilion. President Diman Smith welcomed all to the luncheon, and Pastor Allen Higgs gave the blessing prior to the meal.

The Sinclairville Senior Citizens meet once a month on the second Tuesday at noon for a luncheon and program. President Smith cooked the hot dogs and hamburgers for the main picnic meal. Treasurer Sylvester brought many kinds of condiments including a variety of tomatoes. A wonderful variety of food brought by others to add to the meal, with ample amounts was available for all to enjoy.

Following the luncheon, the business meeting opened with all saying the Lord’s Prayer led by President Smith and the pledge of allegiance led by secretary Sipos. Sipos also gave a brief history of the Declaration of Independence. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by secretary Sipos and the very detailed financial report was presented by treasurer Sylvester. Diman and LuAnn Smith were celebrating their 41st anniversary. June Whipple announced that she is now the Chautauqua County Legion Auxiliary Commander. Smith announced that he is going to attend the National Convention of the American Legion with a proposal for the Sons of the Legion.

SAR member Doug Arters talked about he and Judge Crossley attending a the Flag Day Ceremony at the Cadiz Cemetery in Cattaraugus County, and representing the Sons of the American Revolution. The next gathering of this group will be at the Sinclairville Firehall Dining Room on Tuesday, Aug. 8, at noon. Smith will have the white table coverings and Mrs. Smith will have table decorations of homegrown vegetables. All those attending are asked to bring a dish of food to add to the meal, and their own table service. New members are always welcome.
