Dawson Metal Company Awards Scholarships

Dawson Metal Company recently announced its college scholarship winners for 2017.

The company has awarded scholarships annually to deserving students of its employees since 1980. The applications are adjudicated by an outside party. This year, retired educator Shirley Daly reviewed the applications and made the awards.

Haley Hettenbaugh is a recent graduate of Randolph High School where she was active in the school’s sports program as well as being an outstanding student. She plans to study childhood education this year at Jamestown Community College. She is the daughter of Dan and Sue Hettenbaugh of Kennedy.

Joelanis Kercado-Martes is returning to Jamestown Community College after taking a few years off to pursue other interests. She is planning to study criminal justice at Jamestown Community College. She is the daughter of Rafael Pagan of Jamestown.

Kristin Johnson has successfully finished her two-year study of art at Jamestown Community College and plans to continue this pursuit at the State University at Fredonia in the fall. She is the daughter of Andy and Terrie Johnson of Ashville.

Lori McNeal recently graduated from Jamestown High School in the top quarter of her class. She plans to enter the nursing program at Jamestown Community College in the fall and eventually hopes to work here in the Jamestown area. She is the daughter of Charles and Sandy McNeal of Jamestown.
