Benefit For Stockton Man Is Sunday

STOCKTON — A fundraiser for Jeremy Catanese will be held Sunday.

A bike ride will begin at 11 a.m. starting from the Stockton Volunteer Fire Department. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $20 per rider and includes dinner. The pork dinner will begin at 2 p.m. and continue until sold out at the Stockton Fire Hall. Tickets for the dinner are $8 for children and $10 for adults.

In July 2016, Catenese fell while helping to care for animals at the Chautauqua County Fair. After several months of pain, doctors’ appointments and testing, he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer formed by malignant plasma cells found in the bone marrow which are an important part of the immune system. Catanese has worked for the Stockton Highway Department for 13 years, is married and has two teenage children. Catanese has spent his life volunteering his time for the betterment of the community, including being an active member of the Stockton Fire Department since 1995, holding several positions within the department. At the time of his diagnosis he held an assistant chief position. He has helped with 4-H, Community Little League and is an avid hunter. His wife Betty is the Chautauqua County pistol permit clerk and also volunteers time as the Stockton Fire Department EMS captain. His children attend Cassadaga Valley High School.

Donations are also being accepted. For more information about donating, contact either Dave Lessinger at 213-8883 or Laura Logan at 785-4289.
