CRCF Grant Aids In Bike-Riding Promotion

Students, Kate, Lauren, and Evan; teachers Concetta Young and Anne Dolce join Chautauqua Region Community Foundation executive director, Randy Sweeney, in preparation for Bike Safety Week at Panama Central School.

Recognizing the importance of bicycle riding in promoting a wholesome lifestyle, a Chautauqua Region Community Foundation grant will allow the school to hold a bike rodeo on May 6.

Students without a helmet will receive a free one. In addition, students are encouraged to ride their bikes to school where they can practice maneuvering through a specified course while reviewing rules of the road.

John Wilbert, from Hollyloft Ski & Bike, will make inspections and minor repairs. In addition, there will be safety presentations and a poster contest. A donation and collection process is under way to give children who do not already own a bike the opportunity to have one.
