United Arts Appeal Accepting Grant Applications

The United Arts Appeal is accepting grant applications from Chautauqua County artists and organizations for awards from its 2017 Projects Pool Grants Program. In 2016, grants were awarded to two individual artists and eight organizations. One of the funded projects was the Sinclairville Free Library’s Positively Paint Program. The United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County is accepting applications from Chautauqua County artists and organizations for its 2017 Projects Pool Grants Program.

“Every year a portion of the funds the United Arts Appeal raises is awarded to individual artists and artistic projects for the purpose of enhancing the cultural life of Chautauqua County,” said Shane Hawkins, United Arts Appeal president.

Eligible organizations must have non-profit status and may include libraries, municipalities, churches and other community groups.

An artist who has been a Chautauqua County resident for at least one year and works in any artistic discipline, including but not limited to crafts, dance, film, fiction, poetry, printmaking, sculpture, painting, video, play writing, performance, music composition and photography, may apply for a Projects Pool grant. Awards are based on creative excellence and are to be used for career development.

Grants up to $500 will be awarded.

Applications are submitted online and must be received by midnight on Saturday, April 15. All applications are screened for eligibility and fulfillment of application requirements. An advisory panel of Chautauqua County residents who are knowledgeable in the arts reviews applications and presents funding recommendations to the United Arts Appeal board for approval.

Artists and community organizations interested in applying for funding through the UAA’s Projects Pool Grants Program can obtain application information and funding criteria online at the grants page at www.UnitedArtsAppeal.org.
