TRC Receives CQL Accreditation

The Resource Center’s commitment to supporting people with disabilities has resulted in recognition from an international organization.

The Resource Center has been awarded the three-year quality assurances accreditation from CQL, The Council on Quality and Leadership. This award affirms that The Resource Center shares CQL’s vision for person-centered solutions to improve the quality of life for people receiving supports and services. TRC has been supporting people with disabilities and their families in Chautauqua County since 1958.

“CQL accreditation indicates to those looking for services and supports, their families, potential employees, and our funders that The Resource Center is committed to delivering person-centered supports and ensuring that the framework of our services has strong policies and practices to guarantee health and safety,” said Denise Jones, TRC’s chief executive officer. “Achieving accreditation and maintaining our accreditation ensure that we are always reviewing practices so that they align with our expectations. It’s a method of continuous improvement, which is a concept that has long been part of our organizational culture.”

When The Resource Center partnered with CQL to pursue accreditation, TRC undertook a rigorous process to review and improve its services and supports. Efforts were focused on empowering the people TRC supports to make choices in how they live their lives, such as where they work, where they live and how they create a community.

“What I see in this accreditation is a recognition and an appreciation by The Council on Quality and Leadership that here at The Resource Center, we just don’t write about making a difference in people’s lives; we do it,” Jones said. “We incorporate a team approach that is committed to living The Resource Center’s mission, every day. And that is so important for the people we support.”

The Resource Center was awarded CQL accreditation because TRC demonstrated proficiency in the following areas: ensuring fundamental safeguards related to health, safety and human security; supporting and empowering people to achieve their goals and dreams; and demonstrating organizational commitment to continued enhancement of systems directly related to person-centered services.

“CQL commends The Resource Center for its success in increasing the quality of life for the people it supports,” said Mary Kay Rizzolo, CQL’s president and CEO. “We are pleased to partner with them on this journey.”

For more than 40 years, CQL has been a leader in raising the bar for human service organizations and systems to continuously define, measure and improve the quality of life of all people. Organizations that are awarded accreditation by CQL meet a stringent set of criteria and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to person-centered excellence.
