Eastern Star Hosts Homecoming

The Chautauqua District Eastern Star homecoming and reception was held recently at Forestville Chapter #247 with Francelia Skoglund of Mt Sinai serving as Matron and Pete Petersen of Forestville serving as patron.

Current Grand Officers were presented and introduced. Jr Past District Deputy Grand Matron Margaret Heiden was absent. Jr Past District Grand Lecturer Greg Heiden was introduced and thanked for his service.

Officers of the evening were Associate Matron-Lois Bentzoni, Associate Patron-Robert Lewis of Acacia Chapter, Conductress-Lori Petersen, Associate Conductress-Linda Blodgett, Chaplain-Martha Woolley, Marshal-Donna Johnson, Musician-Lynne Schmitt, Color Bearer-Steve Schmitt.

Incoming District Deputy Grand Matron is Mary Prue, who was presented by her friend, Jackie Volk. Incoming District Grand Lecturer is John Olszewski, who was presented by his granddaughter, Katrina Hughes.

Lynne Schmitt presented a gift to her father, John O. in behalf of Silver Chapter. Fran Skoglund presented a special candle to Mary in behalf of 2017 Matrons. John was presented with a stuffed bear-the Grand Patron’s symbol.

Continuing Grand Representative of Kansas near the Grand Chapter of New York was Georgann Bemis of Acacia Chapter. She shared some of her traveling experiences.

Other honored guests included Quentin Bensink, of Acacia Chapter, Past NYS Grand Patron 2007; current Associate Grand Matron-Lynne Schmitt, of Chautauqua District; and Associate Grand Patron Leland Barnes of Little Falls, N.Y. (near Utica).

All said Pledge of Allegiance in beginning and sang “Hymn of Promise” at the end.

Light refreshments concluded the evening of fellowship. Best wishes and appreciation are extended to all.
