Conewango Creek Watershed Association Names Photo Contest Winner

Conewango Creek Watershed Association is proud to announce the winners of their 2016 photo contest. During the year, photographers had the option to submit up to five photos in up to five categories including: people, water scenes, landscape, wildlife, and close-ups anywhere within the Conewango Watershed. In October, keen-eyed judges then began the process of selecting the top three photos in each category, with the winners being formally announced at the CCWA Annual Gala on Oct. 20.

The winning photographers in each category were: People: First Place – Jay Kuntz, “Carving.” Landscape: First Place – Alexander Shipherd “Swampy Sunset,” Second Place – Gary Lester “Lowlands at Dawn,” Third Place – Jay Kuntz “Tom’s Trees.” Wildlife: First Place – Donald Armstrong “Feeding Cardinals,” Second Place – Alexander Shipherd “Osprey,” Third Place – Alexander Shipherd “Eastern Meadowlark.” Close-up: First Place – Jay Kuntz “Ripe for Picking,” Second Place – Vicki Durlin “Bee on Flower,” Third Place – Christopher Goff “Leaf Closeup.” Water Scenes: First Place – Monika Garami “B&W Bare Trees,” Second Place (Tie) – Monika Garami “Sepia Mist” and Gary Lester “Confluence at Dusk,” Third Place – Jay Kuntz “Chasing the Wind.” Congratulations to all the winning photographers.

To promote the beauty of the watershed and reward the winning photographers, a traveling road show of the winning photographs will take place at several area businesses including: Allegheny Outfitters, Warren, Pa., from Nov. 26, to Dec. 10; VSK Emporium, Frewsburg from Jan. 13-28; and Evergreen Outfitters, Mayville from Feb. 8-22.

The public is invited to stop in to each of these establishments during regular business hours, or they can also see the photographs on display between shows at the CCWA offices at 4000 Conewango Ave, Warren, Pa. The CCWA is already preparing to start its 2017 Photo Contest.
