Christmas In The Village Set For Saturday In Lakewood
The village of Lakewood is excited to host Christmas in the Village on Saturday from noon to 8 p.m.
This festive community event for the entire family will include holiday shopping with over 60 indoor craft and gift vendors and 35 local merchants open for business sales and restaurant food and drink specials all along Chautauqua Avenue and other areas in Lakewood.
In addition to the local merchants, vendors will be located in nine venues including The Fitness Bunker, Lakewood Fire Department, Priceless Studios Photography, Forge Health & Performance, A Child’s Creation preschool, Village Hall, Image Embroidery, the log cabin and the former wine shop.
Merchant coupon books with special offers will be available to all shoppers throughout the day. These books, available for pick up at The Fitness Bunker (quonset hut) or Lakewood Fire Hall, will include a map of all vendor locations as well as a village basket raffle game.
Several restaurants, village businesses and a variety of festive gift vendors will be open between the hours of noon-8 p.m.
A live reindeer will make an appearance from noon-3:30 p.m., and the village invites everyone to enjoy free horse drawn trolley rides from 4-6 p.m.
The Lakewood Museum located beneath the Village Hall, will be open for exhibits and treats between noon-3 p.m. Children and families can also enjoy a Christmas story time and take part in a holiday activity at the Lakewood Memorial Library from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive with their elves at 5 p.m. and will be available for children visits and photographs by parents until 8 p.m. During that time, Christmas carolers will also adorn the streets in song.
The day will end with a double tree lighting at 7:30 p.m. in Recognition Park and 7:45 p.m. at Richard O. Hartley Park. At this time, Holiday Lights, baking and basket drawing contest winners will be announced.
Since this will be an outdoor and indoor strolling event throughout the village, guests are reminded to dress warm and take advantage of all the vendor venues available in Lakewood.
