CCE To Host Farm Succession Planning Workshop

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County’s Agriculture Program will host a farm succession workshop for all agricultural businesses from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Frank Bratt Agricultural Center, 3524 Turner Road, Jamestown.

The program will provide agricultural business owners and their family members with information on communication and farm business transfer. A workshop titled “Succession Planning Steps and Family Communication Considerations for Business Transfer” will be presented by Daniel Welch, business and succession planning coordinator of the NY FarmNet in Ithaca. while Steven Walker, an attorney with the Syracuse-based firm of Scolaro, Fetter, Grizanti, McGough & King P.C. will present “Options for Transferring the Farm Business, and Estate and Retirement Planning.” Both speakers have experience working with agricultural producers and family members and will answer questions at the workshop.

Participants in the workshop will also have the opportunity to schedule a future appointment with Walker for further personal farm succession planning.

Registration is required by Friday and should include names of all planning to attend. The fee includes the program and a catered lunch for the cost of $12 per person, payable at the door.
