Unemployment Rate Decreases In Chautauqua County
The unemployment rate in Chautauqua County has decreased .7 percent during the last year.
On Tuesday, the state Labor Department released preliminary local area unemployment rates for June. The county’s unemployment rate went from 5.7 percent in June 2017 to 5 percent last month.
The state’s unemployment rate decreased by .4 percent, going from 4.6 in June 2017 to 4.2 in June. The United States unemployment rate went down as well, going from 4.5 percent in June 2017 to 4.2 last month.
Rates are calculated using methods prescribed by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The state’s area unemployment rates rely in part on the results of the current population survey, which contacts approximately 3,100 households in New York State each month.
From June 2017 to June, the state’s private sector job count increased by 132,400. In June, the number of private sector jobs in the state was 8,185,900.
