Italian/BBQ Restaurant Opening Downtown
Imagine a restaurant that offers authentic, home-cooked Italian cuisine along with a fresh and delectable BBQ selection.
That’s the philosophy behind Basil & Bones, a new Italian/BBQ restaurant set to open next month on 14 E. Second St., the former location of the Babalu Cafe.
With a menu rich in homemade pastas, salads, soups and sandwiches — not to mention a variety of BBQ meals — Basil & Bones is the go-to place for anyone seeking freshness and authenticity at an affordable price.
“Basically, everything is going to be made from scratch, in-house,” said John Calamunci, consultant/manager of the restaurant. “We have full service here so you can come in and sit down … or food is available for pick-up, take-out or delivery. So if somebody wants a nice, Italian dinner delivered straight to their house, we’re going to be able to service that. People can also come in and pick up their dinner in the afternoon and then have a nice home-cooked meal ready after their kids’ soccer game.”
The owner/manager of Basil & Bones is Jamestown resident Jessica Ramsey. Calamunci said the notion of bringing Italian cuisine and BBQ under one roof was her idea, and that their goal is to open a number of restaurants in the coming years.
“We thought this would be a nice starting point with all the exciting things going on in downtown Jamestown,” Calamunci said. “We just look forward to giving everyone in the city a really high-quality Italian meal and bringing our authenticity to the table.”
Basil & Bones is scheduled to open in mid-June. Its hours of operation will be Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with delivery available until 11 p.m., and Saturday, from 4-11 p.m. The restaurant will be closed on Sunday.
