Part Of East Third Street To Close

Jeffrey Lehman, city public works director, announced Tuesday that East Third Street between Cherry and Washington streets will be closed to traffic beginning today and ending Friday. Motorists must use alternate routes of travel.

Salvation Army To Hold Benefit

DUNKIRK — A fundraiser for the Salvation Army’s Anew Center will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Kirk’s Jewelers, 3935 Vineyard Drive, Dunkirk. Amy Peterson, a Jamestown native and co-founded of Rebel Nell, will hold a trunk show featuring Rebel Nell jewelry. Each piece is handmade in Detroit by women transitioning from homelessness. The show will also include a Facebook Live conversation with Peterson for those who can’t attend. Ten percent of proceeds will benefit the Salvation Army Anew Center.

Falconer Sets Fire Safety Training

FALCONER — The Falconer Farmers Market will be hosting fire safety and fire extinguisher training presented by members of the Falconer Fire Department and school safety training presented by the Ellicott Police Department on Saturday. There will be training sessions at 10:30 a.m., noon and 1:30 p.m. The Falconer Farmers Market is located in Davis Park on the corner of West Main and Homestead streets. There will also be fresh produce, local maple syrup, homemade jams and jellies as well as craft items for sale. There is always ample free parking available at the market.

County Planning Board To Meet

The Chautauqua County Planning Board will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, in the county Industrial Development Agency offices in the BWB Building, second floor conference room, 2017 W. Third St., Jamestown. All meetings of the County Planning Board are open to the public. Alzheimer Group To Meet Sept. 6

LAKEWOOD — The Alzheimer’s Association Western New York Chapter will host “Healthy Living For Your Brain And Body” at 2 p.m. Sept. 6 at Brookdale Lakewood, 220 Southwestern Dr., Lakewood. Dementia experts from the chapter office will discuss the latest research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise and cognitive activity. The program is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is encouraged to ensure there are enough materials and to relay any changes to the schedules by calling the chapter office at 800-272-3900.

Benefit Auction To Be Held Sept. 7

PANAMA — The second annual 5&2 Ministry benefit auction will be held Sept. 7 at the North Clymer Produce Auction grounds in Panama. A chicken dinner costing $10 begins at 5 p.m. and a live auction will start at 6 p.m. There will be a Chinese auction, live auction, rummage sale, Chicken barbecue and concessions.

QPR Training To Be Held Sept. 25
