Toastmasters To Meet At Library

Historical Society Holds Quilt Show

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Valley Historical Society recently held its annual quilt show in the museum located at the corner of Main and Lester streets. Each year, quilts are brought to the museum by residents of the area for a display with a note describing the pattern, the date, and the family. This year, the historical society had Lois Anderson and Betty jean Ridout as the coordinators with the help of local historian Walter Waite, museum curator Diane Shaw, Linda Parmenter, and trustee Charles Sylvester. West Side Group Gathers Friday

The West Side Women met July 27 at the Bethel Lutheran Church. Their speaker was Barry Yochim, executive director of Meals on Wheels. The group will be meeting again on Friday at Bethel Lutheran Church, with Sam Genco from Lake View Cemetery as speaker. Members are encouraged to invite guests who may be interested in joining our group.

Thrift Shop Hours Posted By Church

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St., between East Fourth and East Fifth streets, Jamestown, is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The shop has redline clearance items available for half-price in all departments with other items at a reduced price. Donations are accepted from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays or during regular business hours. Those with large donations are asked to call ahead at 664-1887. Off-street parking off East Fifth Street. The all- volunteer staff includes many from RSVP.

Lombart To Speak At Fenton

Kandace Brill Lombart will join the Fenton History Center on Wednesday to highlight the Brill family of Jamestown, who lived at 645 Lakeview Ave. She will use Power Point, photos and items handed down in her family to also tell the story of her parents, Cpt. James Brill and Lt. Mary Peck Brill. Brown Bag talks are admission free, set during the lunch hour to accommodate hungry attendees, and donations are always appreciated. The Fenton Mansion is located at 67 Washington St., Jamestown.

Church To Host Bible School

The Emmanuel Baptist Church, 23rd Street, Jamestown, will host its 2018 Vacation Bible School, “Rolling River Rampage” from Wednesday, Aug. 29, through Friday, Aug. 31, from 5:30-8 p.m. All kids grade K-12 are welcome. For more information, call 487-9860.

‘Praise In The Park’ Is Sunday

BEMUS POINT — Christ Church, 3012 Route 430, Bemus Point, is sponsoring “Praise in the Park” on Sunday at the pavillion at the Ellery Town Park across from the church. There will be a pot-luck dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a praise service. All are invited to attend. If the weather is inclement, it will be held at the church.
