School Board To Meet Tuesday

The Jamestown Board of Education will gather Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the board room at 197 Martin Road, Jamestown, for its regular monthly meeting. The meeting is open to the public.

JHS Class Of ’46 Meets This Week

The Jamestown High School Class of 1946 will meet at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Alfie’s Restaurant in West Ellicott. Lunch will be a Dutch treat. The dessert will be paid for by the class treasury. For more information, call Alice Wahlstron Carlson, chairman, at 665-5655.

Blood Drive At BPU Location

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities and the Community Blood Bank are hosting a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the BPU education and training rooms in the BPU’s Operations Building, 92 Steele St., Jamestown. Donors will need a picture identification, be at least 17 years old and in good health. Lunch will be provided free to blood donors. Donors may access the BPU blood drive by entering the “D” driveway at 92 Steele St. to reach the BPU parking lot. Facing the building from the parking lot, blood donors may enter the visitor entrance, the right door under the green awning, next to the BPU Customer Service Department, sign in at the window and take the elevator to the first floor. Historical Society Gathers Tuesday

The Harmony Historical Society will hear about Annie Oakley on Tuesday. The society is hosting the county historian, Michelle Henry, who will tell about her discovery of a court case involving sharp shooting super star Annie Oakley. Henry, who manages the county archives in Mayville, found the original court documents pertaining to a lawsuit that Oakley initiated against a local newspaper. Oakley came to Chautauqua County and testified in court, spending several days in the area. A pot luck dinner begins at 6 p.m. with the program beginning at 7 p.m. Please bring a dish to pass and table service. All meetings are open to the public.

Bridge League Results Posted

Three teams finished tied for first place in recent Jamestown Area Bridge League competition on Aug. 9. The teams of Sue Reiger and Kathy Yaw, Judy Young and Pat Fincher, and Anne and Tyn Smith finished tied. Area and ou-of-town guests are welcome to play. Games are held Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 35 Fairmount Ave., Lakewood. For more information, call 736-3805.

Chapel Adds AARP Classes

The South Stockton Wayside Chapel located at 5537 Route 380, Sinclairville, has added an AARP safe driver class for Sept. 20 and 21 from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Registration phone number is 224-3280. Class fee for AARP members is $20 and for non AARP is $25 payable by check made out to AARP, which will be collected on the first day of class. It helps to have the check made out in advance. Please bring AARP membership card, driver’s license and a pen to class, and plan to arrive 15 minutes early the first day to allow for registration. Please register early as class size is limited.
