Legion To Host Karaoke Friday

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Legion Post 1286 will hosting Jules R Us karaoke Friday from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Charlie Vullo’s specials are prime rib, fish fry, veal marsala and veal parmesan. All members and guests are welcome to attend.

Chicken BBQ Planned Sunday

LAKEWOOD — Sacred Heart Church in Lakewood will hold a chicken barbecue from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., or until sold out, Sunday. All pre-sale meals must be picked up by 1 p.m. The dinners, which cost $9 each, include chicken by Weidner’s BBQ, potato and macaroni salads, roll, cookies and bottled water. CHQ&A Podcast Is Launched

Chautauqua Institution announced the launch of its new flagship podcast, “CHQ&A,” featuring interviews with prominent guests who participate in Chautauqua’s summer season of programs. Now with 13 episodes available at podcast.chq.org and on most major podcast platforms, “CHQ&A” aims to provide further insight into the work and thought processes of some of the celebrated individuals who pass through the Institution’s grounds this summer. Through a partnership with listener-supported WRFA 107.9-FM in Jamestown, interviews from “CHQ&A” will be rebroadcast under the “Chautauqua Chronicles” banner in Jamestown and online, with John Merino, retired CEO of the Gebbie Foundation, serving as program host. “Chautauqua Chronicles” begins in the fall, with episodes airing throughout the year. The podcast is hosted by Jordan Steves.

Church To Host Musical Program

MAGNOLIA — Magnolia United Methodist Church, 3969 Route 394, north of Stow, will have a musical program at 11:15 a.m. Sunday. Participating will be Tracy Brown, Susie Nelson, Patty Zdunski, Mary Jane Miller and some surprise guests. Those in attendance will also have a chance to pick one of their favorite hymns or praise songs to sing together.

Barn Dance Is Planned Saturday

CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga Lakes Association will hold a Barn Dance on Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Red House, 91 Frisbee Road, Cassadaga. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and dancing will take place from 7-9 p.m. No dance experience is necessary and refreshments will be served. Cassadaga Lakes Association will also provide information tables to describe the purpose of the organization and explain some projects they are currently pursuing such as the proposed Cassadaga Nature Park.

School Board To Meet Tuesday

CASSADAGA — A special meeting of the Cassadaga Valley school board will be held on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. in the board of education conference room. The meeting is open to the public.

Town Board To Gather Aug. 9

The Coldspring Town Board will hold its next regular meeting on Thursday, Aug. 9, at 7 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
