Princess Club To Host Sessions

The Princess Club, a community based girls club that has been going on for six years, will have a six-week session on Thursdays through Aug. 30, from 5 -7 p.m. for girls between the ages of 4 and 15. Jamestown High School students who want to participate to earn community service points can attend. For more information, call Brenda Stewart at 720-4405. The group will not meet Aug. 23.

Kurtz To Speak To Society Group

MAYVILLE — James Kurtz of Mayville will discuss his efforts to honor veterans at the Thursday meeting of the Chautauqua Township Historical Society. Members will meet in the Sid Compton Room at the old Mayville high school on Academy Street in Mayville at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Quilters Guild To Meet Thursday

WESTFIELD — The Westfield Quilters’ Guild will meet on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Westfield YWCA. The special guest speaker will be Susan Catanzarito from Pittsburgh. Catanzarito is known for her Civil War and reproductions quilts. Guests are welcome. Guild members celebrated the guild’s 25th anniversary in June with dinner at the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. The officers who were elected in May were presented with gifts as they were welcomed to their new roles.

Baker To Host Coloring Club

SOUTH DAYTON — Jean Baker will host the next in a series of community activities for adults in South Dayton, “Coloring Club for Adults,” from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. The group will create artistic, colorful pictures. Those attending should bring their own materials or free supplies will be available; the class is free. Experience is not required.

Smorgasbord To Be Held Thursday

DEWITTVILLE — The Dewittville Fire Department Auxiliary’s annual smorgasbord will be held from 4:30-7 p.m. Thursday at the Dewittville Fire Hall, Route 430, Dewittville. Tickets are $10 for adults ages 13 and over and $5 for children between the ages of 5 and 12. Children ages 5 and under are admitted free.

Church To Offer Area Bible School

The Koinonia Christian Fellowship Church, 1427 Warren and Jamestown Blvd., Jamestown, invites children Kindergarten through sixth-grade, to join them for vacation bible school running Aug. 6-10. Children who attend will enjoy a “Time Lab” theme where they will travel to the past, present, and future to find Jesus in the scriptures. Vacation bible school is free to the public. Health Dept. To Offer Text Alerts

MAYVILLE — Chautauqua County Health And Human Services is offering Chautauqua Outside text alerts. The alerts will send out up-to-the-minute information on beach closings, algae blooms, tick-borne diseases, poisonous plant identification and other information. There is no cost, though regular messaging rates apply. Officials expect roughly six texts per month in the summer and roughly one per month in the winter. To participate, text “chqoutside” to 31996.
