Fluvanna Library Holds Book Sale
FLUVANNA — The Fluvanna Free Library book sale continues today and Sunday offering a selection of books and other materials, including children’s easy and junior fiction, adult fiction, Christian fiction and non-fiction, music, movies and puzzles. Many different authors are represented as well as a selection of cook books. Prices range from 25 cents to $1. The library will have a daily hot dog lunch offered for a small price that includes a hot dog, chips and beverage. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, with Sunday including a bag sale. The Fluvanna Free Library is closed to patrons during the book sale. The library is located at 3532 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown.
History Center To Host Walking Tour
The Fenton History Center will host its next summer walking tour Saturday. The Lakeview Loop Tour will highlight some of the homes along Lakeview Avenue and the families who lived in the north side neighborhood. The tour will begin at 10 a.m. from the Lake View Cemetery office at the corner of Buffalo Street and Lakeview Avenue. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for members. Children ages 17 and younger are free.
Historical Society To Meet Monday
FREWSBURG — The Carroll Historical Society’s monthly meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the society’s rooms behind the Carroll Town Building, 5 W. Main St., Frewsburg. All members are encouraged to attend. Important discussion, planning and review for the year’s programs for the rest of the year is planned. Anyone interested in Carroll history is invited and welcome to attend.
Harmony History Society To Meet
BLOCKVILLE — The Harmony Historical Society will celebrate summer Tuesday at its July meeting with a picnic at the schoolhouse/gazebo. In case of inclement weather the group will meet indoors at Carpenter Hall. The picnic begins at 6 p.m. Those attending should bring a dish to pass, table service and a lawn chair. All meetings are open to the public.
MAPLE SPRINGS — The Allegany Region Commission will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, in Midway State Park’s Sunset Room. The public is welcome to attend.
Brown Bag Lunch Lecture Set
The Fenton History Center’s next Brown Bag Lunch Lecture will be Wednesday, July 18, at noon, featuring guest speaker Steve Sewell, a 1966 graduate of Southwestern High School. Sewell will discuss his time as a Cryptanalyst during his Vietnam War service. The lecture series is free and open to the public. Those attending should bring their lunch. Donations are accepted.
Hazeltine Library To Hold Party
The Hazeltine Public Library is hosting a “thank you” party on Thursday, July 19, from 5-7 p.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. to thank those who worked to make the library look great. Library tours will be available. Staff and board members will be on hand, and refreshments will be served. The library is located at 891 Busti Sugar Grove Road.
