East Third Street Closed Saturday
Jeffrey Lehman, director of Public Works for the city of Jamestown, said East Third Street, from Pine to Spring streets, will be closed to traffic on Saturday from about 8 a.m. to noon to facilitate delivery of equipment for repairs to the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts. Motorists must use alternate routes of travel.
Steak Dinner To Be Held Saturday
The North Harmony United Methodist Church will hold a Swiss steak dinner on Saturday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The cost of the meal is $8.50 for adults and $4 for children. Take-out orders will be available. There will also be a bake sale table. The church is located on Sherman-Stedman Road near Woodcrest Golf Course. Proceeds will be used for community service projects.
DOT To Replace Sheridan Bridge
The state Department of Transportation announced that work is to begin Monday at 9 a.m. on a project to replace the Route 39 Bridge over Scott Creek in the town of Sheridan. As a result, the existing bridge will be closed and traffic will be directed to follow a posted detour. Only local traffic will be allowed to use Route 39, between Route 20 and Newell Road. The detour is expected to be in place until the fall.
FCS Class Of ’61 To Meet Sunday
Members of the 1961 Falconer Central School class will gather together on Sunday at the Lakewood Rod and Gun car show. There is no cost to attend or need to be a member to enter. The event will begin at noon. Food will be available.
Kiantone Ladies’ Group To Meet
KIANTONE — The Kiantone Congressional Church Ladies Aid Society will meet Thursday, July 19, at the fellowship hall. Sixteen women recently attended the potluck picnic at the church. Jean Berg opened with a prayer. Loretta Smith provided devotions. She read a writing by the late Bessie Cheney honoring women of the ladies aide in the past. Karen Swanson read the secretary’s report. The treasurer’s report was also read. Cindy Hotchkiss and Joan Spontaneo will chair “Grandma’s Attic” for the social in August. Berg reviewed the procedures to be followed after funeral memorial services. The meeting was closed with a prayer.
Golf Tournament Set For Sunday
The William C. “Bill” Young Memorial Tournament will be held Sunday, July 22, at 1 p.m. at the Cardinal Hills Golf Course. The event includes a game of gulf, cart, lunch, dinner and a can koozie. A Chinese auction, raffle drawing, 50/50 and cornhole tournament will also be held. To receive a registration form, email email@example.com or contact Melissa 499-7972. The event is to honor and celebrate the life of Young, who died unexpectedly on Jan. 29, 2018, leaving behind his wife, daughters and family. Prizes for the tournament include $200 for first place and $100 for second place. Registration is $65 per golfer, $240 for foursome, $20 per cornhole team and $15 for non-golf dinners.
