Mental First Aid Session Scheduled

Mental Health First Aid will be held from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Aug. 3, at the Jones Memorial Health Center auditorium, 51 Glasgow Ave., Jamestown. The session is sponsored by CASAC, UPMC Chautauqua WCA, the Community Alliance for Suicide Prevention, Chautauqua Tapestry, Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene and the Mental Health Association of Chautauqua County and will teach those attending how to use an action plan to help those experiencing a mental health or substance abuse problem. Way To Serve As Church Missionary

Chandler Way is serving as a missionary at the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 851 Forest Ave., Jamestown. Way is from Queen Crek, Ariz., and is the son of Glenn and Shelina Way. He has four brothers who have served on missions through the church. Way said he hopes “to come closer to God and to help others as well” on his mission. “I love Jamestown. My grandpa was born here and this town has shaped him to be a man I look up to,” Way said.

Prelicensing Course Is July 21 At SCS

SHERMAN — A five-hour prelicensing course will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 21 at Sherman Central School. To register, call 761-4808. The cost is $25. Independence Event

Set For Aug. 14, 16

The Positive Choices Coalition will host the 2018 Taste of Independence from 9:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 14 and Aug. 16 at the Chautauqua Children’s Safety Education Village, 2695 Route 394, Ashville. Lunch is included. The event is a chance for youth between the ages of 13 and 19 to experience a day in the life of an adult. Participants can visit a series of stations representing institutions adults interact with on a daily basis ­– banks, stores, employment, etc. Each youth navigates the adult system as they find work, transportation, housing, balance a budget and deal with day-to-day problems. JHS Class Of 1966 Reunion Aug. 9

The Jamestown High School Class of 1966 is having a reunion picnic on Thursday, Aug. 9, at the Vikings Summer Home. All classmates and spouses are welcome. Bible School Runs Aug. 6-10

The Clark’s Corners Community Church, 1 Gospel Lane, Kennedy, invites all children to join the church’s summer vacation bible school running Aug. 6-10. At “Camp Moose-on-the Loose,” participants will learn about the life of Christ as seen through the eyes of Peter, and discover lasting forgiveness that only Christ can give.
