Little League Signups Begin

Frewsburg Little League will be having signups for little league and T-ball at the Carroll Town Hall on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9-11 a.m. New players should bring a copy of their birth certificate. For additional information please contact Mike Sheesley at 397-3333.

Midget Meeting

Is Wednesday

The Jamestown Area Midget Football League will be holding its annual organizational meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the IBEW Union Hall on James Avenue. Officers up for election this year are: commissioner, commissioner at large, cheerleading coordinator and fundraising coordinator. Anyone interested in these positions can send a letter of interest and a resume to Sylvia Opdahl at sopdahl@stny.rr.com. Voting will be held at the group’s March meeting.

Lenten Event Set For Wednesday

The First Presbyterian Church, 509 Prendergast Ave., Jamestown, continues its Lenten tradition of services at noon each Wednesday during Lent in Bellinger Chapel. The theme will be the Lenten Labyrinth using liturgies from the Iona Community. “Home” will be presented on Feb. 21. Special music will be by Bob Hagel and Adam Rohler. Lunch follows. All are welcome to attend.

Soup-A-Thon

Set For Sunday

CHERRY CREEK — The Cherry Creek VFW Auxiliary will have a soup-a-thon, Bucks for Bikes, to benefit National Home for Children from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Pine Valley VFW Post 2522, Route 83, Cherry Creek. Donation is $5. Those attending can bring a crock pot of their favorite soup and can judge the soup they think is best. A Chinese auction will be held. Bible School Begins Feb. 18

FREWSBURG — The Zion Lutheran Church in Frewsburg will host a winter Vacation Bible school, Cokesbury’s Rolling River Rampage, during the upcoming winter break from 6-7:30 p.m. Feb. 18-21. Children in universal pre-kindergarten through sixth grade are welcome to participate. Registration will be available the first evening. The church is located at 45 Falconer St., Frewsburg. For more information, call the church at 569-5495. Wednesday Night is Family night, a parent or guardian must accompany rafters on that evening for a taco in a bag dinner and the VBS closing event.

Beekeepers Assn. To Meet Monday

The Chautauqua County Beekeepers Association will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Frank Bratt Agricultural Center, Turner Road, Airport Hill, Jamestown Officers will be nominated. Among items on the agenda are early spring management and an update on state Beekeepers’ Association projects. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

City BPU To Close Monday

Jamestown Board of Public Utilities offices will be closed on Presidents’ Day, garbage and recycling will be collected Monday. BPU Customer Service and other BPU offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19, with regular office hours resuming at 9 a.m. Tuesday. After-hour payments may be made by credit card, debit card and e-check at www.jamestownbpu.com and on the phone at 661-1660, ext. 3.
