Makerspace To Open At Library
On Wednesday, the Prendergast Library will offer extended hours and a wide range of activities in their Makerspace. The space will be open from 2-5 p.m., and children and adults are invited to drop in and try out any of the materials available in the Makerspace. The Makerspace is open every Tuesday through Friday, from 3:30-5 p.m. The space encourages STEAM-based learning, with staff-guided projects that involve science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
Pulse Poetry Slam Thursday
The Infinity Visual and Performing Arts Center will be hosting “Pulse Poetry Slam Open Mic Night” on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Infinity Arts Cafe. Pulse Poetry Slam events are free, family friendly and open to the public. Performance poetry is a way to express creativity while practicing performance and public speaking.
School Board To Gather March 15
The March 1 meeting of the Pine Valley Central School Board has been canceled. The board will meet next on Thursday, March 15, at 7 p.m. in the board conference room at the elementary school.
Lake Group Seeks Comments
The Chautauqua Lake Partnership (CLP), a local non-profit lake organization, is advancing a broad set of projects seeking to improve the condition of Chautauqua Lake. One project includes support of the Town of Ellery’s recent issuance of a Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (DSEIS) for the application of herbicides to several targeted areas of the Lake. Comments on the DSEIS can be submitted or support can be expressed at the town’s upcoming public meeting Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Fluvanna Fire Hall, located at 3536 Fluvanna Ave.
JPS Board To Gather Tuesday
The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the board room at the Administration Building of Jamestown City School District, 197 Martin Road, Jamestown.
District To Host April Workshop
The Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District and Southern Tier West will host a DEC-Endorsed four-hour Erosion and Sediment Control Workshop for Construction Site Contractors and Operators at the BOCES LoGuidice Educational Center, 9520 Fredonia-Stockton Road in Fredonia on Thursday, April 12, at 8:30 a.m. All contractors and subcontractors working under the state DEC Permit must identify at least one Trained Contractor from their company that will be responsible for implementation of the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan. Council To Offer Casino Special
United Senior Council of Chautauqua County is sponsoring a customer appreciation day at Seneca Niagara Casino on April 17. Cost $35 per person and includes round-trip transportation, $30 in slot bonus and a lunch buffet. Departure will be 8 a.m. from the Lakewood American Legion.
