Thrift Shop

Special Extended

The St. Luke’s Thrift Shop will have men’s dress slacks or jeans at half-price. Included in the sale are all children’s clothing. Ladies, tops and skirts are also half-price because of the extreme cold last week and the thrift shop’s closure Friday and Saturday, last week’s special is extended. All ladies’ sweaters are $2 as well as all ladies’ dress slacks being $2 a pair. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday or Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The shop is closed Wednesdays during the winter. Donations are accepted from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays or during regular business hours. Those with large donations are asked to call ahead. Off-street parking is available in the church lot on East Fifth Street. The all-volunteer staff includes many from RSVP. Proceeds are used locally.

Council To Meet

The Jamestown Riverfront Management Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. today in the mayor’s conference room on the fourth floor of City Hall. The public is welcome to attend.

’51 To Meet

WEST ELLICOTT — The Jamestown High School Class of 1951 will gather Wednesday for a luncheon at noon at Alfie’s Restaurant on Fairmount Avenue.

War Veterans

To Hold Meeting

The War Veterans Rec. Inc. will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, Jan. 18. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. sharp in the Castle Room at 3431 Fluvanna Ave. and is open to all veterans members in good standing (paid up veteran members). No one will be admitted after 6:30 p.m.

Quilt Guild To Meet Wednesday

The Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild will meet Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. at the Busti Fire Hall. Bring in your mini quilts for the program. Refreshments will be served and the public is always welcome.

Frewsburg BOE To Meet Thursday

The Frewsburg Central School Board will meet on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the middle-high school multi-purpose room. The public is welcome to attend the meeting.

Driving Course Set For Jan. 18

American Legion Post 777, 26 Jackson Ave., West Ellicott, is sponsoring a six-hour AARP Smart Driving Course on Thursday, Jan. 18, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. The cost is $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-members. All ages are eligible to attend. Pre-registration and payment by check is due by Friday. To register, call 483-3655. Checks should be made out to AARP. Those completing the course are eligible to receive a 10 percent discount on auto insurance for three years.

To Meet Friday

GERRY — The Rodeo City Senior Citizens will meet Friday at the United Methodist Church in Gerry at noon for a luncheon and program. Those attending are asked to bring a dish of food to pass and their own table service. Table decorations will be provided for the welcoming of the new year.
