Dining To Donate Planned Feb. 7
On Wednesday, Feb. 7, the Applebee’s restaurants in Dunkirk and Lakewood will hold Dining to Donate fundraisers to benefit Laurel Run. From 11 a.m. to midnight, the restaurants will donate 10 percent of the price of people’s meals. Patrons must present a special voucher in order for the money to be donated to Laurel Run. A link to a printable version of the voucher can be found at www.laurel-run.com. Laurel passed away Nov. 13. She would have turned 55 years old Feb. 7. Wayne and Elaine Hotelling created Laurel Run in 1997 in honor of their oldest daughter, who had Down syndrome. Laurel Run is a celebration of the potential that exists within people who have disabilities.
Reg Lenna Movie Nights Scheduled
Reg Lenna Center for The Arts begins its February movie series with showings of Academy Awards Best Actor nominee Denzel Washington in Roman J. Israel, Esq. on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 8 p.m. and the Academy Awards nominee for Best Adapted Screenplay The Disaster Artist Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. Admission to each is $5. Due to construction at The Reg, a temporary box office location is open at 215 Spring St. and the entrance to the theater is next door. This box office is open between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday. The temporary theater entrance will be open one hour prior to movies and events, at which time tickets will be available upon entering the building.
Tea Party Group Met On Jan. 23
The monthly general meeting of the TEA Party Patriots gathered on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the Lakewood American Legion. A Dennis Prager video on “Where does the Federal Government Get All Their Money?” led off the evening. A video by Ami Horowitz featured anti-Trump citizens on the street being interviewed about Trump’s tax reform package while being told that it was Bernie Sander’s plan.
Cemetery Group To Meet Today
The St. Mary’s Cemetery Restoration Committee will meet today at the Horeshoe Inn in Onoville at 1 p.m. All are welcome to attend the meeting.
SOUPer Bowl Is Sunday At Legion
The seventh annual SOUPer Bowl event will be held Sunday at the Lakewood American Legion, located at 174 Chautauqua Ave. in Lakewood. Tickets for the event, which offers soups from more than eight vendors, are $12 for adults and $6 for children under 12. Each participant can cast their vote for the best soup prepared by area caterers and restaurants. The winners of the event will the creator of the best soup and two worthy causes. Proceeds will benefit robotic surgery at UPMC Chautauqua WCA and WCA Foundation’s Rapaport Fund that gives grants to help fight breast and other cancers at the UPMC Chautauqua WCA Cancer Center.
Allen Park Club Meets Saturday
The Allen Park Women’s Club will meet at the Allen Park Men’s Club on today at 10 a.m. for their annual membership brunch and installation of officers. The officers will be providing the meal. All members are to bring their annual dues of $10 to the meeting.
