Lunch, Training Event Canceled

A volunteer training workshop and lunch scheduled today to kick off the 2018 Appeal for Catholic Charities in Chautauqua County has been canceled due to the weather. The funds raised for the 2018 Appeal, which carries a goal of $11 million, will help support the 70 programs and services Catholic Charities offers across 61 sites.

Legion Post To Host Breakfast

The Lakewood Legion Post 1286 will be hosting a breakfast buffet on Sunday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Cost is $6 for the buffet and $1 more for a three-egg omelet. The buffet is open to the public.

Library Board To Meet Thursday

Prendergast Library will hold its monthly board meeting on Thursday at 5:15 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.

Advisory Board Meets In Village

A meeting of the Greater Falconer Area Economic Advisory Committee will be held on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Falconer American Legion at 132 W. Regional Board Meets Thursday

The Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board will meet on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Center For Regional Excellence, located at 4039 Route 219, Suite 200, in Salamanca. Lunch will be served at noon.

Five-Hour Course Offered Jan. 22

FREWSBURG — A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School on Monday, Jan. 22, from 5-10 p.m. The cost is $25. Pre-register by calling the guidance office at 569-7026 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. When calling, students should have their permit on hand.

Free Class To Be Held At Library

“The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease” is a free class presented by the Alzheimer’s Association Western New York Chapter. The program will be offered at the James Prendergast Library at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23. Attendees will learn symptoms and effects of Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia; how Alzheimer’s affects the brain, causes and risk factors, the benefits of early detection, treatment and community resources.
