Thrift Store To Hold Winter Sale

The Community Outreach Thrift Store is running a winter bag sale on Friday. Bags can be filled with up to eight items for $1.50. Select winter coats will be selling for $2 apiece. There will also be a $1 table and a 25-cent table as well. The store is located on the third floor of First Lutheran Church, 120 Chandler St., corner of Chandler and Center streets. Weekly hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds benefit local charities. Donations in good condition are accepted.

Legion To Host Bands This Week

The Lakewood Legion Post 1286 will be hosting Alex Kates and Danny Shanahan today from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Dinners will be prepared by Charlie Vullo from 5-9 p.m. The Legion will be hosting the Rustic Ramblers on Friday from 7:30-11:30 p.m. Dinners will be prepared by Charlie Vullo from 5-9 p.m. All members and guests are welcome, please sign in.

Spaghetti Dinner Planned By Club

The Marco Polo Club will hold a spaghetti dinner from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday. The cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children.

Blood Drive To Be Held Monday

An emergency blood drive will take place on Monday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at UPMC Chautauqua WCA hospital, located at 207 Foote Ave. in Jamestown. Inventory of blood and blood products within the region has reached a critical level. The cancellation of an area blood drives last week resulted in the loss of about 75 donors. Recent winter weather has further reduced donations since Dec. 26. All blood types are needed. A community blood drive will also take place on Friday at the Riverwalk Center, 15 S. Main St. in Jamestown from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Book Group To Meet Tuesday

The Third Tuesday Book Group at the Lakewood Memorial Library, 12 W Summit St., Lakewood, will meet at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Discussion will be on “Murder at Maple Springs” by Robert Terreberry, who will join the group for the meeting. Light refreshments will be served. Library Offering Learning Classes

Prendergast Library is offering access to Rosetta Stone’s language learning program. Patrons can learn a brand new language, further their ESL learning as non-native English speakers, or brush up on a language for business or vacation travel. Patrons can choose which language to study from among 30 different options, including Spanish, English, Chinese and German. This software is available to use in the library or off-site. City Seniors To Meet Jan. 23

Jamestown Senior Center members will meet on Jan. 23 in the Jamestown Senior Center. The guest speaker will be from Brookdale. Snacks will be served.
