Support Group Meets Tuesday

The Alzheimer’s Association monthly Caregiver Support Group will meet on Tuesday from 1-2:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room at the JAMA Building, 15 S. Main St., Jamestown. An evening monthly caregiver support group will meet Thursday, Jan. 18, from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Fluvanna Community Church on Fluvanna Avenue Extension. The groups are for anyone 18 years or older who is caring for a person with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia-related diagnoses. Poland Board Gathers Tuesday

KENNEDY — The Poland Town Board’s organizational meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, in the town hall, 3593 Church St. in Kennedy. The regular board meeting will follow. The public is welcome to attend.

Yoga Offered At Ellington Library

ELLINGTON — Sue Miller will host yoga sessions at the Ellington Farman Library from 6-7 p.m. starting today. The session is a new program at the library. There are a variety of DVDs available for every level of class attendees. Those attending are welcome to bring their own yoga mat. Casey Dubose will provide a relaxing diffuser blend of essential oils. The Ellington Farman Library is located at 760 Thornton Road, Ellington. Andrews Serving Church Mission

Conner Douglas Andrews, the son of Chris and Cindy Andrews of Sugar City, Idaho, is serving a mission at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 851 Forest Ave., Jamestown. He has three brothers who have also served as missionaries within the church. While here, he expects to be able to share his unique message with all who are willing to receive it and hopes to be able to help others change and improve their lives for the better. When asked his thoughts of Jamestown, he stated the town is very welcoming, the people are very loving and have been very warm to him.

Church Thrift Shop Now Open

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St., between East Fourth and East Fifth streets, Jamestown, will have all ladies’ sweaters available for $2 and ladies’ dress slacks for $2. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The shop is closed Wednesdays during the winter months. Donations are accepted from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays or during regular business hours. Those with large donations are asked to call ahead. Off-street parking is available in the church lot off East Fifth Street. The all-volunteer staff includes many from RSVP. Proceeds are used locally.

Join-A-Thon By Area Girl Scouts

On Wednesday, Jan. 10, the Girl Scouts of Western New York will hold the Girl Scout Join-a-thon from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and take on-the-spot registrations over the phone. Those who want to register can call 888-837-6410 on Jan. 10. Adults who register to become volunteers and or register their girls can win merchandise. Adults must be 18 years of age or older to volunteer and girls must be in kindergarten through 12th grades to join.
