Story Hours Set At Library
The Cherry Creek Library will present Story Hour from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, 23 and 30. The movie “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” will be shown on Dec. 16. The library will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
Town To Host Holiday Auction
ELLINGTON — The Ellington Town Picnic Association will host a holiday auction today at the Ellington Fire Hall. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the auction starts at 6 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from the association. Auctioneer Don McKuhn will have a variety of items for auction including toys, household items, collectibles, clothing, tools, holiday decorations and food. There will also be a visit from Santa during the event. A portion of the auction proceeds will benefit the Ellington Town Picnic Association. The event is open to the public.
Quilt Guild Meets On Wednesday
The Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild will meet Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. at the Busti Fire Hall. The annual Christmas party will be held. Please bring a dish to pass and a $10 gift if you wish to participate in the exchange. The public is welcome to attend.
Firemen Group Gathers In Elma
The South Western Association of Volunteer Firemen will hold its next quarterly business meeting at 1 p.m. Sunday hosted by the Elma Fire Department on Bowen Road, Elma, The executive meeting will begin at noon and the general membership meeting will start at 1 p.m. The meeting was rescheduled from Nov. 5. The association is comprised of volunteer firefighters and EMS providers of fire departments and rescue squads in the four counties of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Erie counties of New York.
Breakfast With Santa On Sunday
LAKEWOOD — Lakewood American Legion Post 1286 will host a breakfast with Santa Claus from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Sunday. Children ages 10 and under eat free and receive a gift from Santa Claus. The public is invited to attend.
School Board To Meet On Monday
The Bemus Point School Board will meet on Monday in the cafeteria at Maple Grove middle-high school on Dutch Hollow Road in Bemus Point. The public is welcome to attend.

Exhibit Opens At Catt. Co Museum
MACHIAS — The Cattaraugus County Museum and Research Library has opened its new exhibit: “Answer the Call! Cattaraugus County Marches to War, 1917-1918.” The exhibit features uniforms, weapons, documents and personal items from all over Cattaraugus County, and will run through April. The Cattaraugus County Museum is located in the Stone House, 9824 Route 16, Machias. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
