Church To Hold Saturday Lecture

Lighthouse Baptist Church, 381 Camp St., Jamestown invites the public to a lecture by Chris Miller on the subject “The Core of Evolution” this Saturday at 10 a.m. Mr. Miller holds a BS in petroleum engineering from Penn State and an MBA from St. Bonaventure University. He gained extensive experience in oil and gas exploration with various oil companies and is currently employed by New York state as a regulator of oil and gas wells. He was once a firm believer in evolution and was very avid in trying to persuade people that evolution was true. He eventually gave up on evolution and became a believer in creation. Since becoming a creationist he has given nearly 700 public lectures on creation and evolution, and enjoys explaining the evidence that convinced him to switch beliefs.

Jill Kelly To Speak Thursday

Jill Kelly will be speaking in the Warren, Pa., area on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Praise Fellowship Church, located at 7451 Market St., Russell, Pa. This event is free and open to the public. Jill Kelly is a New York Times bestselling author and the wife of retired Buffalo Bills quarterback and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly.

Ripley BOE To Meet Thursday

A regular meeting of the Ripley School board will be held on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Research Library (Room 204) of the Ripley Central School. The public is invited to attend the meeting.

Mike Randall To Perform Saturday

Local performer Mike Randall will perform his one-man portrayal of Charles Dickens in his performance of “Charles Dickens Presents: A Christmas Carol” on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Spire Theater, 317 E. Third St. in Jamestown. The show will raise funds for the Prendergast Library. Admission is free for this event, and donations are graciously accepted. Already well-known as a weatherman for Channel 7 and for his puppetry and ventriloquism, Randall is also winning acclaim for his one-man shows. This event features Randall as Charles Dickens, performing “A Christmas Carol” in its entirety and employing a variety of voices to portray the story’s characters.

Seniors To Meet In Celoron

The Celoron-West Ellicott Seniors will meet today at the Celoron Community Center for its regular meeting. Those who attend are asked to bring a dish to pass and provide their own table service.

Golden Agers To Meet Tuesday

Members of the Lakewood-Busti Golden Agers met recently for a Hobo dinner prepared by the Lakewood American Legion Post 1286. Several knitted hats and mittens made by members were displayed and will be distributed to needy children. The group’s next meeting is on Tuesday at the Lakewood Legion at 12:30 p.m. There will be a harvest dinner for $6. Prior reservations are a must. Call 763-0544 for more information.
