Marvin House To Host Open House

Members of the Board Of Marvin Community House met Sept. 5, to finalize plans for the members and friends open house to be held Oct. 11 from 4-7 p.m. The event is being heralded as a celebration of the completion of the first phase of the renovation of the building which includes painting, repairing and replacing of vital areas of this 1809 building donated by Elizabeth Warner Marvin in 1951 to the women of Jamestown for their use. Those interested in attending the open house, which will feature food and drinks gratis, as well as tours of the house, call the Marvin Community House at 488-6206.

Alzheimer’s Program Is Tuesday

WESTFIELD — Persons diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or another type of dementia undergo changes in the brain that will affect their ability to communicate, including limiting the ability to speak. The Alzheimer’s Association WNY Chapter is offering a free educational program aimed at helping bridge the communication gap that is inevitable as the disease progresses. “Effective Communication Strategies” is a one-hour program offering verbal and non-verbal strategies for caregivers to more effectively understand and communicate with their loved one. Patterson Library at 40 South Portage Street in Westfield will host the program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10. Registration is encouraged by calling the chapter at 800-272-3900.

DAV Auxiliary To Meet Tuesday

The Disabled American Veteran Auxiliary Unit 47 will meet at LLS Located at 715 Falconer St. on Tuedsday at 10 a.m. Members are urged to attend the meeting to discuss plans for the Veterans Day service on Nov. 11 and for the annual Christmas party in December. Sinclairville Seniors Meeting Is Tuesday

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Senior Citizens will meet Tuesday at the Sinclairville Fire Hall dining room at noon for a luncheon and program. All those attending are asked to bring a dish of food to add to the menu and their own table service. A program will follow the luncheon. New members are welcome.

City School Board To Meet Tuesday

The Jamestown Board of Education will have a regular meeting on Tuesday. The meeting will be held at Jamestown High School in the Auditorium beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Finance and Budget Committee will have a meeting prior to the Regular Meeting of the Board of Education at 5:15 p.m. in the Jamestown High School Auditorium.

Sunset Hill Flowers Must Be Removed

Sunset Hill Cemetery Association will hold its fall cleanup. Those who want to keep their flowers must remove them by Sunday, Oct. 15. Any remaining flowers will be disposed of by the maintenance department.

Falconer After-Prom Committee To Meet

FALCONER — The Falconer After-Prom Committee will hold its first meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the eighth-grade planning center.
