Planning Board Meets Tuesday

The Chautauqua County Planning Board’s monthly meeting will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. The meeting will be held in the second floor board room of the BWB Building, 201 W. Third St., Jamestown. All county Planning Board meetings are open to the public.

Antique Study Club To Gather

Lakewood Women’s Antique Study Club members will meet for a picnic on June 7 at 1 p.m. in the Lakewood Legion Post. Members attending should take a dish to pass and their table service. Yvonne Lee, president, brought a recent meeting to order. Minutes were read by Nancy J. Schuyler and the treasurer’s report was given by Joann Robinson.Josie Gerardi spoke on lace and displayed a variety from Europe, Belgium, Venice and Victorian from 1800 to 1900, collars, cuffs and doilies. She also brought the book “Love of Lace.” Yvonne Lee spoke on the May bus trip and closed the meeting.

Altar, Rosary Society Meets

The Holy Apostles Altar and Rosary Society will meet on Wednesday in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, following the 12:10 Mass. The agenda will include discussion on the Patriotic Card Party on June 14 from 7-10 p.m. in the church hall. Members attending should take a bag lunch. Refreshments will be provided. New members are welcome to attend.

Class Reunions Planned July 3

Al Southwestern School Alumni, classes from 1960 to 1970, are invited to a reunion on Monday, July 3, in the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. A meet and greet will be from 6-7 p.m., followed by a seated dinner. For reservations and dinner choice, contact Randy Carlson at 763-8597. A Sock Hop dance party follows dinner with music and prizes provided by DJ’s Unlimited.

Rowing Sessions Beginning Today

The Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association is holding a Learn To Row (crew) session beginning today from 8:30 a.m. to noon at their boathouse in McCrae Point Park. The session will continue at 5:30 p.m. the following Monday through Thursday. No prior experience is necessary and classes will include “dry-land” training, instruction on an “erg,” dock-box rowing and rowing on the water. Register at rowchautauqua.org or in person on Saturday morning.

Farmers’ Market Opens Tuesday

The Lakewood Farmers’ Market opens every Tuesday from 1-5 p.m. now through August. The market is located on Chautauqua Avenue by the clock tower. The market operates rain or shine and is sponsored by the Village of Lakewood. FMNP checks are accepted.

Author To Speak To Society Group

SINCLAIRVILLE — George Clever, local author and historian, will be the speaker at the Valley Historical Society meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Clever will speak on the art of “Saving Old Histories” in today’s computer and digital age. The meeting will be held at the museum at the corner of Main and Lester streets in Sinclairville. All interested persons are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.
