Library To Host Fiber Arts Club

The Fluvanna Free Library will host a fiber arts club called “Needles and Hooks,” beginning Thursday 2 p.m. Participants are asked to bring their own projects. The library will supply the refreshments. The event is free and open to the public but donations are always accepted. For more information about this or any programs and events, please call or stop by the library during normal business hours. Our open hours are Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library’s phone number is 487-1773.

Third Tuesday Book Club Meets

The Third Tuesday Book Club will hold its first meeting of the year on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Library. The Book Club will be discussing Being Mortal by best-selling author Atul Gawande. Tom Putnam, MD, medical director of Hospice Chautauqua County, will join the group for this discussion and the public is cordially invited to attend. Copies of the book are available at the library and at Off the Beaten Path Bookstore in Lakewood. Lakewood Memorial Library is located at 12 W. Summit St. in Lakewood.

Panama, Clymer Boards To Meet

PANAMA — A special meeting of the Clymer Central School Board of Education will take place on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Panama Central School auditorium. The special meeting will be to review the study of a proposed merger between the Clymer and Panama central school districts.

Planning Group Meets Tuesday

The city of Jamestown will hold a Local Planning Committee (LPC) meeting Tuesday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. for the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI). The meeting will take place at the Reg Lenna Center For The Arts, 116 E. Third St. The purpose of the meeting is to review detailed information about proposed projects for DRI funding. After a brief presentation, the consultant team and the LPC will discuss next steps for the DRI. The meeting will conclude with an opportunity for the public to ask questions and submit comments.

Organizational Meeting Tonight

The 2017 organizational meeting for Falconer Little League will be held tonight at 7 p.m. in room 204 at Levant Wesleyan Church. This is an open meeting for any parent interested in the operation of the league. Also, any person interested in coaching this season at any level should attend. Info Session To Be Held At WCA

The Bariatric Center team of UPMC Chautauqua WCA will host a free, informative, seminar Thursday 6 p.m., to answer questions about weight loss surgery options at the hospital and introduce residents to bariatric surgeon, Dr. Galo Grijalva. The free seminar will be held in the UPMC Chautauqua WCA Auditorium, 207 Foote Ave. For more information, call 485-7870.

Pre-Licensing Course Jan. 23

A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School on Jan. 23-24, from 6-8:30 p.m. The cost is $25. Preregister by calling 569-7026 When calling, have your permit on hand.
