Library To Host Tax Class

The James Prendergast Library will host the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program starting today. Appointments are available on Tuesdays from 4-8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. thorough April 11. To make an appointment, call 211 or 888-696-9211. Individuals who make less than $54,000 in 2016 qualify for this assistance. Programs at Prendergast Library are free and open to the public. The library is located at 509 Cherry St., Jamestown. Soil Board To Meet Tuesday

The Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District’s board of directors will meet Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Northcrest Business Park, 220 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.

Take Kid To Library Day Set

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point Library will host ‘Take your Child to the Library Day’ from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 4. The event is for toddlers through fifth grade children and will include games, books and snacks. For more information or to register, call the library at 386-2274. All families are welcome.

Adoption Event Set For Feb. 4

The Chautauqua County Humane Society and Ed Shults Auto Group will host the “Find Your True Love” adoption event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Ed Shults Ford, Lincoln, Hyundai, 2257 Washington St., Jamestown. All animals six months and older will have a $25 adoption fee. All animals are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered. Regular adoption processes will apply.

Winter Fest Set For Feb. 4-5

Cassadaga Winter Festival, Feb. 4-5, features events for the whole family. Saturday offers crafts and Birds of Prey program at 11 a.m. at the library, sledding and wagon rides at the Country Club from 1-3, Corn Hole Tournament 2 p.m. and Winter Fest dance 7-10 p.m. at the American Legion, Chicken BBQ is set for noon at the Fire Hall. Sunday features Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast from 8-11 a.m. at the Fire Hall and Chili Cook-off at the American Legion at 2 p.m. Featured specials at village restaurants. Valentine’s Day Event Planned

A Valentine’s Day celebration will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 7-9 p.m. at the Dewittville-Hartfield United Methodist Church, corner of Route 430 and Meadows Road in Dewittville. Pizza and salads will be provided. Handmade valentines will be made. Crafts must be brought to the event.

Thrift Shop Is Holding Sale

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St. between East Fourth and East Fifth streets, Jamestown, is are having a storewide half-off sale on all clothing in all departments with the exclusion of housewares. Sales and receiving hours are Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Receiving hours only are from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday. Off -street parking is available in the church lot off East Fifth Street. The all-volunteer staff includes many from RSVP.
