Fall Prevention Program Coming To Lakewood
If you have ever fallen, have a fear of falling or just want to avoid having a fall, this proven successful program is for you. Stepping On is a seven week fall prevention program that addresses a variety of ways to reduce the likelihood of falling. The classes are highly interactive and address topics such as improving balance and strength through exercise, vision, medications, and home/community safety. A Physical Therapist from Amedisys Home Health, Pharmacist from Lakewood Apothecary, Vision Expert from the Lions Club and Community Safety Expert from Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Resources will all be part of this highly effective program. The program is sponsored by the Center for Disease Control, New York State Department of Health and Brookdale Lakewood Senior Living Community. The research has found that people who complete the workshop have a 31 percent reduced rate of falls.
The Chautauqua County Office for the Aging and Brookdale Lakewood are offering the Stepping On program starting on Friday, March 9. The Stepping On program will be held every Friday from 1-3 p.m. for seven weeks at Brookdale Lakewood, 220 Southwestern Drive, Lakewood.
