Southern Tier Wrestling To Present ‘Gold Rush 2018’ Saturday
For the third consecutive year, Southern Tier Wrestling will wrestle with a purpose: to raise money for the Jamestown Community College wrestling team.
The locally owned independent wrestling company will continue into its third season with “Gold Rush 2018” in the JCC gymnasium Saturday with a 6 p.m. bell time.
Although this year marks the third time the Southern Tier Wrestling name has been attached to the annual JCC wrestling fundraiser, Randy Grey, owner and promoter of Southern Tier Wrestling, has been coordinating the event for the past six years. Grey said the money given to the JCC wrestling team is used to cover expenses that the college doesn’t cover, such as meal and hotel costs for out-of-area tournaments.
“Gold Rush” will feature a number of live pro-wrestling matchups between several current and rising stars in the independent and professional wrestling circuits. Featured matchups in this year’s event include: a 20-man “over-the-top” battle royal, the winner of which will get to face STW’s Heavyweight Champion “Big Time Bill Collier; Ryan Cassidy versus WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas; and Vince Valor versus Rage in the second annual STW Mattress Match — sponsored by Jamestown Mattress.
“We’re very much looking forward to this huge wrestling extravaganza,” said Jon Osterdahl, STW co-owner, writer and promoter. “Randy and I, as well as many others, have worked tirelessly with our local sponsors, venues and business partners to make these wrestling events happen. I’m thrilled that Jamestown has its very own wrestling and entertainment syndicate. We hope to make Jamestown proud, and continue to bring more great action and popular names throughout the year.”
Sponsors for “Gold Rush 2018” include: Bloomquist Landscaping, Jamestown Mattress, Game Time Sports Bar and Grill, Media One Group, Nite-Line Magazine, Jeremy’s Belview, Moonlight Electric, The Coffee Cup, Johnson’s Keystone, Don’s Car Wash, Southside Redemption Center, JB Liquor, Have It Now Rental, Lobbs Mobile, AW Access Insurance, Chaut4Rent.com, PhoneZone, Shults Auto Group, Everyday Hardware, Qwik Lube, Salon 1, Lena’s Pizza, Pal Joey’s, Shawbucks, Save-a-Lot, Farm Fresh Foods, Forte, H&R Block, Burnetts Flooring, Jeff Wadsworth Construction, Williams Garage, Michelle Frazier DDS, Servicemaster of Jamestown, Certified Auto Repair, Southside Pharmacy and Falconer Printing.
