MAYVILLE — For the first time in over 25 years, nine selected Southwestern Central School orchestra students participated in Chautauqua County Music Teachers Association’s Winter Festival Orchestra on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Chautauqua Lake Central School.

Juniors Christine Deming and Chloe Peters, sophomore Marcus Krautzman and eighth-graders Braley Lachner, Ethan Livingston, Tucker Gesing, Emma Anderson, Mary Rose Slater and Josephine Corey experienced a wonderful day of rehearsals culminating in a terrific concert.

The Junior High Orchestra was under the direction of Steven Fayette. With his wit and boisterous personality, Mr. Fayette connected with students both musically and personally to give them an incredible experience.

The Senior High Orchestra was under the direction of Dr. Richard Webb, the music education string professor at The State University of New York at Fredonia. Dr. Webb chose extremely challenging music, which gave students a great opportunity to challenge themselves both musically and intellectually. Overall, it was an amazing experience for teachers and students alike to see these two guest conductors work with the students to create a beautiful concert presentation at the end of the day.
