Harmony Seniors Hold September Meeting, Plan Oct. 5 Get-Together

Harmony Senior Citizens met on Sept. 7, at the North Harmony Senior Citizen Center in Stow for a tureen dinner with 41 members present. They are meeting at the North Harmony Senior Citizen Center temporarily while the Panama United Methodist Church is under going construction.

President Beverly Smith welcomed everyone, including the newest member of the group, Delores Haley. Pauline Edsall gave a talk on the positive impact the recent United Senior Council Social had on her and her husband. The band “Happy Days” preformed at the social and for Pauline and her husband it brought back earlier memories of their life together.

Birthdays were celebrated by Phyllis Clark, Barbara DeStevens, Pauline Edsall, David Lindberg, Cindy Miller and Bob Delahoy, eldest member present. Lester and Wynona Wevers celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.

Sign up sheets were distributed for the Thanksgiving Dinner meeting to be held November 2nd at the Panama Diner. The cost is $15 which includes the meal, dessert, tax and tip. Reservations and payment is due at the October meeting. The Christmas dinner will be held at the North Harmony Senior Center on Thursday, Dec. 7. The meal will be prepared by Sally Hagg. the cost will be $10 and reservations and payment is due at the November meeting.

A gift certificate was donated by the Harmony Senior Citizens to the Harmony Historial Society for a raffle to be held at their Harvest Festival.

Under new business, Mary Lou reported there is only $39 in the Pennys for Paws account. It was agreed to wait until the amount reaches $50 and then forward to the Humane Society.

Sally Hagg asked about making a donation to the North Harmony Senior Citizens for use of their building. The donation will be made after the first of the year.

Dottie Enlow reported the trip on the Titusville Railroad scheduled for Oct. 4. The member boarding the bus at Panama should be there by 7:30 p.m. The church has agreed for members to park in the parking lot as usual. The Christmas bus trip is scheduled for Nov. 29 to the Festival of Lights.

The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. for a tureen dinner. Food Committee includes; Dottie Enlow, Mary Keeney, Chuck and Dee Ellis. Cindy McIntyre will provide the birthday cake. All residents age 55 and over are welcome to attend.
