Become A Savvy Caregiver; Classes Begin Sept. 7

The New York State Department of Health will be presenting classes to better assist caregivers of someone suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. The Savvy Caregiver program is designed for caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s who continue to live at home. Developed by the University of Minnesota, these classes will help caregivers gain a better understanding of the disease; the skills to assess abilities of the person with dementia; and the confidence to set and alter caregiving goals. The free classes will be held at the Patterson Library, 40 S. Portage St., Westfield from 6-7:30 p.m. on Sept. 7, 14, 21 and 28.
